Get to Know the 2021 Porsche PanameraSince its highly successful introduction in 2009, the Panamera has served an important role in the Porsche lineup. Its powerful engines, sports-car stance/handling, and luxurious amenities give it the soul of Porsche’s legendary sports cars. But the roomier interior, four-person seating, and generous trunk space give it practicality for carrying clients, friends, and family. The 2021 Porsche Panamera refines this sports sedan formula to perfection.

Basics About the 2021 Porsche Panamera

It may be classified as a mid-sized sedan, but owners and reviewers describe it as a full-blooded sports car. They cite its nimbleness, road manners, and a selection of engines that will send it rocketing down the road. The 2021 model is a highly-refined version of the Panamera’s second generation and features powertrains ranging from the 325 horsepower turbo V6 to a 455-hp gas/electric hybrid to a 689-hp turbocharged 4-liter V8.

Plenty of Configurations

Besides the engine choices, the number of Panamera configurations warrants a chart (or at least a visit to your Porsche dealer to see them in person). Most are available in RWD or AWD. Though all engines are technically turbocharged, only two cars (the 620-hb Turbo S and 689-hp S E-Hybrid powertrains) receive Porsche’s “Turbo” moniker. New for 2021 is the Sport Turismo model.

Porsche Options

Porsche is traditionally a fan of providing so many options that customers are essentially buying a custom car. Dealerships feature a design studio where you can sit down and sort through the options, including trying out swatches of color combinations and materials. The top of the line Panamera is the fully-optioned Turbo S E-Hybrid Executive and the most popular model is the Panamera 4S.

Unique Features

The major unique features of the Panamera are seating configuration and the cargo space. Though not a crossover or SUV, Porsche provides all four passengers with luxurious bucket seating. No bench or tight rear quarters here. Rear passengers are provided with ample leg and headroom. There’s even a “stretch” Executive version of the Panamera if you plan to have a driver for your Porsche and ride around in the back. The hatch-style trunk has enough room for a family’s luggage or golf bags for all four passengers.

New for 2021

The major Panamera refinements for 2021 tightened the look of an already striking vehicle. The previously optional SportDesign front fascia was adopted as standard across the line. Porsche’s adopted the new rear LED strip, which was already standard across the rest of their models. Inside, they updated the steering wheel to better integrate shift paddles. Lane-keeping assistance and traffic-sign recognition became standard equipment.

Porsche refines great design as no other automaker does. It is a testament to their engineering philosophy of creating function-forward vehicles, then gradually iterating to further perfect the design with each year’s model.
